This project is an example of artistic collaboration on a huge scale. It would not have been possible without the support and enthusiasm of artists and crafters from all over the UK.
The catalogue is a visual record of all the hearts from the exhibition, and a record of the project itself. Every heart which was returned as part of this project is featured, together with the name of the person who decorated it.

Artist, Helen Birmingham says: "When the hearts arrived back, many of them carried stories which were full of emotion;
poignant, amusing, tragic and meaningful in equal measures, and I felt that the stories demanded their own space to do them justice. The memories which travelled with the hearts appear together in a separate booklet called '1,568 Sawdust Hearts - The Inside Stories.'
It is my intention (subject to funding) to collect ANY further stories related to the project and to keep them together with images of the hearts, in an online archive/website. I will keep you updated on this supplementary project.
